Luz' 2009 solo-exhibition kicked off on Saturday night, Sept. 12 with an opening reception from 6-9 pm. More than 80 collectors, fans and friends joined in the fun and enjoyed the thirty original oil paintings that were on display; most for the first time.
The title for this year's show, Holiday Magic, was drawn from Luz' theme for the show: Favorite vacation and holiday get-aways from around the world. The show had a notably international flavor with original oils picturing fabulous locations from around the world: England, Italy, Brazil, Chile, France and the US. Also, included were a number of beautiful works of a local nature such as San Francisco, Carmel, Santa Catalina, Half Moon Bay and her stay-at-home vacation spot: Foster City!

The Beach at Ipanema: Rio de Janeiro

Famed for the bossa nova and the song, "The Girl from Ipanema," Ipanema has hosted millions of sun-and-surf bathers over the years..It is also famously known for its elegance and social qualities. Two mountains called the "Dois Irmãos" (Two Brothers) rise at the western end of the beach. Luz is from South America, and as a little girl she dreamed of one day visiting Ipanema!
